Native species: An organism which is indigenous to a given region or ecosystem
Introduces Species: an organism that is not indigenous to a given location but instead has been accidentally or deliberately introduced to a new location by humans or by natural means
How do they get into new places?
Ballast Water
Water in the hull of a ship that may contain organisms in it that when released may introduce new organisms
Canals
Waterways that are made to contribute to goods transports that may attach to the ships
Recreational Boaters/ships
If you don’t wash your boat you may transport different organisms on your boats
Accidentally imported in boxes or plants
Things may be boxed in the mail
Pet Release
If for any reason you don’t want your pet if you release it may beable to live in that environment
Aquaculture
The Asian carp
Intentional
Introduced by scientist to decrease the population of natice and non-native species
Introduced for sport or aesthetic value
